Looking to open their new office at the Quorum in central Bristol, Alstom instructed Amarelle to design a friendly, bright and welcoming workspace that works with Alstom’s Designing Fluidity philosophy.

Every day, around a third of all rail journeys in the UK are made on Alstom trains. Alstom is a French multinational company operating worldwide in rail transport markets. Alstom has an impressive history in the UK dating back to the dawn of the railway, and they have been involved in some of this country's most significant and innovative rail transportation infrastructure such as HS1, Manchester Metrolink, Network Rail’s Signalling and electrification systems, Nottingham Tram and half the trains on the London Underground.

Core to the values of any rail based company is health and safety.

Such is the importance of this subject within the industry our client wanted to ensure that the key life-saving rules were referenced throughout the space.  In addition to this, a stand up safety briefing area was created in order to provide a key area within the office for the daily safety briefing to take place. Glass writable walls were installed behind and around the TV screen so that note taking or brain storming could be included.  A feature carpet detail and drop bulkhead with a bespoke digital print wallpaper applied helped to create a clever zone for staff members to gather, with inset LED spotlights.

Whilst no formal reception was needed, there was a clear need to delineate the waiting area with soft seating, mood lighting and further carpet details were incorporated to the bespoke built locker area, and upholstered nook, for short one to one meetings.

A number of private meeting rooms and offices were created with full height glazing and doors set into a bulkhead feature which presented more branding opportunities with full height colour manifestation applied incorporating key company value messages. Meeting rooms were equipped with full audio visual facilities and black out blinds to assist with company presentations.

Clean, fresh and modern break-out facilities were created to ensure that there was sufficient space for staff to get away from their desks and to encourage a healthy working environment.

I just wanted to say and very heartfelt thank you for the final build which we think is outstanding.  The entire process has been a pleasure and I am hugely impressed with the contribution and professionalism you have all delivered to make this office a reality, thank you all very much.
