Having successfully won this competitive Government tender, Amarelle were required to be on site within 3 weeks of instruction. Within a very tight schedule, Amarelle transformed a drab, dark and uninspirational office, spread over two floors, into a fresh, exciting, vibrant and flexible place to work. Over 55,000sqft of floor area was refurbished with over 450 staff moves, completed over three phases whilst the clients were still in occupation of the space. Our project and move management teams worked in conjunction with each other to clear and prepare each phase prior to refurbishment works commencing.

Each phase lasted only three weeks in total and included; complete replacement of all flooring, upgrade of tea-point and break-out facilities, lighting upgrades, redecoration throughout and a complete furniture solution. Within our designs we allowed for provision of adhoc meeting spaces, using booths including audio visual facilities. Touchdown areas with laptop tables and soft seating areas to create quiet working zones within the open plan office environment.

Works were completed in just 8 weeks, while still in staff occupation and with no loss to business continuity.

Operating with such a large workforce, required careful and considerate showroom visits and stakeholder engagement meetings and workshops. A temporary workstation mock-up was installed within the office to help gain buy in from key members of staff.

The Planning Inspectorate required a flexible working approach to the design to accommodate their expanding team.  Introducing a desk sharing policy and agile working for 450 plus staff, Amarelle was tasked to create an environment that provided staff the freedom and flexibility to work where they wanted, when they wanted.

The client’s floor space is split into individual wings occupied by various teams. To bring these wings together and encourage collaborative working,  Amarelle developed a colourful pallet that harmoniously blended from one wing to another as well as giving each wing its own identity. The Amarelle design team designed creative new signage to help with wayfinding in this large office environment. A large communal break-out area was created in a glazed atrium which has provided much needed recreational space for Planning Inspectorate employees and other building users.
